New Arts Liberated Production: Scapegoat (Castings)

Dear Scapegoats,
On behalf of Dionysus, welcome to the world of tragedy. I am Sophia Wong, Scapegoat’s playwright and your director. Scapegoat is an English play responding to our contemporary world. By mirroring the current world with the Ancient Greek mythological world, it poses a question of truth, critiques the current socio-political world, and most importantly, wishes to remind its audiences: lives are equal and are of the highest importance.

This play will reproduce scenes of Greek tragedy. You should expect dancing and vocal performances. This play consists of 9 roles, including Apollo, Dionysus, Zeus, Asclepius, Cassandra and the Chorus. Both theatre old-birds and new-bloods are invited to our casting. If LAS students are interested but they are currently abroad, they can still fill in the form but state in the “doddle” section that they want to do it online
Please fill in the Google form to register for the casting.

This epic production is also in desperate need of
theatric magicians:
-Staging-

5. Light and Sound designers

Liberal Education Student Conference

The Liberal Education Student Conference (LESC) is revived!

Returning after Covid-19, we, an organising team formed by LAS students, are thrilled to announce the Liberal Education Students Conference 2024.  The theme is “Liberal what?” Liberal Education: Rethink and Reconnect. It will be held in May 9-11 2024 at UCF!

The LESC is a European-Asian wide conference for students to exchange on our Liberal Education programs. It is a significant opportunity for students to rethink and reconnect in the evolving landscape of Liberal Arts and Sciences, both locally and globally.

To register, you must write a paper, no more than 600 words, responding to one of the conference topics, and send it in to us by February 11, 2024 23:59. More information can be found here.

Want your event to be officially listed on the SC website?

If you’re organizing an event as a UCF committee, write an email to the mediators (lasstudentsmediator@gmail.com) and they’ll put it on the SC website’s calender 😉

Looking For

Request for Participants (Responsibility and Leadership survey)

Hey there,
as part of our group project “The Social Student” in Responsibility in Leadership we would like to invite all Cohorts to fill out the questionnaire below.

Being a social student can be difficult at times, especially for firsties. As part of a group project for Responsibility and Leadership, we invite you all to answer a few questions on how you adapted to university and social life in Freiburg. We will then create a guideline for future cohorts – to make life a little easier for them right at the beginning. It won’t take long and it’s also a good way to reflect on your own journey and how far you have come :)) Thank you all, we really appreciate your help!

All the best,
Nojin, Klara, Oshia, Lea, Lena

The ROAST of – Youth Townhall 2024 Local Elections

Local elections in Freiburg will take place on June 9, 2024. To this end, we talk Freiburg is once again organizing “THE ROAST OF – The Candidate Grilling for the 2024 Local Election” in advance of the election to offer a format specifically aimed at young voters, keeping their interests and concerns in mind. In recent years we have been the most watched and best attended pre-election townhall in Freiburg. We would like to provide an entertaining and quick overview of Freiburg’s local political issues, the party lists, and candidates up for election.

That’s why we’re turning to you. In order to develop the content of the ROAST, we need your experience, your expertise, and your concerns!
We are organizing four workshops on different topics on January 27th and 28th, 2024:

January 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Environment & Mobility & Economy (e.g. city tunnel, Dietenbach)
January 27, 2024, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Education, digitalization, health, and sport (e.g. ice rink, WiFi, daycare centers)
January 28, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Social affairs, culture, migration and integration (e.g. LEA, public space, housing)
January 28, 2024, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Participation, transparency & financing (e.g. youth participation, municipal budget, shift to the right)

Location: ArTik Freiburg (free signal), Haslacherstraße 43, 79115 Freiburg

We would be very happy if you have the time and desire to get involved in the development of ROAST. As an alternative to the workshops, you can simply send us your topics/concerns and questions for the candidates in advance, because we know that we are asking on very short notice.

Of course, it is also possible for you to get involved and officially become a ROAST cooperation partner. Let’s prepare peppery questions together to really get the Freiburg’s candidates fired up again!

Please let us know if you will join in (
hallo@wetalkfreiburg.de) – you are also welcome to come along spontaneously.

We look forward to seeing you, until then best regards

Your we talk Freiburg team
