On behalf of Dionysus, let us welcome you to the world of tragedy! Scapegoat is an English language play set within Ancient Greek mythology, that attempts to respond to contemporary human existence and critiques current socio-political trends. Most of all, it poses the question: What happens in the aftermath of tragedy?

The mortals need to know what happened. That it was all for them! (God Dionysus)

After his friend’s tragic death, Dionysus, God of Wine, Revelry, and Theatre, feels the need to write a play about it. He puts it on during the festival of Dionysia to reveal the truth. But as his play keeps getting interrupted, he slowly realizes that he doesn’t know the full truth either.

Trigger Warning: Abusive power dynamics, mention of sexual assault, suggestive content, self harm, murder, alcohol consumption, explicit language.
