Dear LASsies,
we hereby invite you to the first General Assembly of the summer semester on 26 April, 2 pm (c.t.). The General Assembly will take place in HS 3042 (KG III) and has the following items on its preliminary agenda:
(1) Short welcome address by Prof. Dr. Sitta von Reden, our Dean of Studies since October 2018
(2) Updates from the board and mediators
(3) Charter amendments (more information below)
(4) Students Council elections (more information below)
(5) Updates from the committees
(6) Any other business
As usual, the agenda will be prediscussed at a Students Council meeting (now always on Wednesdays at 6:15 pm in the common room) and is open for additions from all of you!
Charter amendments:
In February, a task force met to discuss possible improvements to our beloved Students Council charter. As a result, the task force proposes three types of changes to the charter to be voted upon at the General Assembly. In the document attached you will find green changes in language and structure, orange changes that indicate clarifications of the content reflecting the status quo, and red additions that the task forces recommends. Please give it a careful read and attend the Students Council meeting or write an email if you feel the need to discuss this. Unfortunately, we will not be able to discuss this at the GA, but will simply vote on it.
Elections:
As announced before, we are from now on seeking applications for the following offices:
– 2 Executive Organizers
– 2 Mediators (who must, one of them or combined, fulfil the criteria of being non-male and non-German)
– 1 Treasurer
– 1 Secretary of Outreach
– 1 Delegate to the Directorate
– 1 Delegate to the Board of Studies
Please email us in advance in case you are interested, although we will allow for applications as late as at the GA. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us by email or find us in the halls of UCF (there are some lovely pictures now on a poster in the common room). A special invitation to all of the first-years who have been a brilliant addition to the LAS community so far and who we’d love to see more represented in the future board.
We are looking forward to seeing y’all at the GA (also, we have a quorum to fulfil…)! Let’s celebrate LAS student democracy at its best; it’s definitely less of an issue than current British politics!
Best wishes,
Your EOs
(Tea, Johanna, and Mathias)
